We study the mechanisms behind human pancreas development and function, and how their disruption can lead to diabetes. Using genome engineered stem cells, we are generating stem cell derived pancreatic islets to create in vitro and in vivo disease models of diabetes. By integrating single-cell omic data and experimental genetic perturbations, we aim to understand the regulatory logic orchestrating pancreatic islet development, physiology and disease.
We also operate a Core Facility service, the Biomedicum Stem Cell Centre (BSCC).
