French intern students welcomed to the RIP-team

RIP-team is happy to host three French interns, Mr. Lode Lizon, Mr. Thomas Dubost, and Ms. Josépha Schwartz, from the Nantes-based engineering school IMT Atlantique for the spring and summer of 2025.

The RIP-team is happy to have three French MSc-level engineering interns from the IMT Atlantique -school, based in Nantes, France.

Lode Lizon will be working together with RIP-team's Juuso Sammaljärvi and Otto Fabritius, along with Samuel Duval of Ai4r, to develop BeaQuant-autoradiography standards and methods to determine and hopefully improve the resolution of the radiochemistry-lab's BeaQuant autoradiography machine. Comparative studies with the other available forms of autoradiography, such as phosphor screen and film-based methods, will be done, as well.

Thomas Dubost and Josépha Schwartz will be working in the RIP-team's SAFER2028 project RACEMAT (Radionuclides' transport in cementitious materials), performing experiments for the final year of the project. Josépha will be performing dffusion study samplings for the cementitious materials' study, in addition to post-mortem studies with the samples. Thomas will be doing sample preparation of both the mock-up and in situ samples of the solidified waste materials, and autoradiography and gamma spectroscopy (and SEM/EDS) to study the distribution of activity in the samples and the microsctructures of the material.

We hope that you will have success in your studies. Once more, welcome to the lab and hope you have a nice stay here in Finland!
