NeuroCure lab got a grant of 472,000 euros for their Alzheimer's disease project. The aim of the project is to test if protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) activation could have effect on the mechanisms of beta-amyloid toxicity. PP2A has a great potential for being a drug target in neurodegenerative diseases as several studies have shown reduced PP2A levels and activity e.g. in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
The study will be done in collaboration with Professor Heikki Tanila from University of Eastern Finland.
