Academy research fellow, PhD
I did my PhD in the laboratory of Oscar Puig (Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki) where I studied the function of Foxo transcription factor in tissue growth and metabolism. For postdoctoral training, I then joined the group of Ville Hietakangas (Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki) where I studied nutrient mediated transcriptional regulation. I then moved to the group of Michael Boutros (DKFZ, Heidelberg, Germany) where I concentrated on understanding the process of nutrient regulated intestinal adaptation, with a special emphasis on intestinal stem cell physiology.
My intrest lies in intestinal stem cell proliferation. The molecular mechanism of intestinal stem cell proliferation and differentiation in relation to changing nutrient flux remains yet to be fully discovered. During my time in Mattila lab I aim to help elucidate this complex but fascinating process.
I did my bachelor's and master's thesis in Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. During my studies I worked on the metabolic features in short-lived fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. In the Mattila lab my PhD work is aiming to elucidate the nutritinal and metabolic regulation of the intestinal stem cells.
