Helsinki Legal History Series: Bruno Debaenst

Welcome to the next Helsinki Legal History Series seminar on 11 March. We have the pleasure of welcoming Bruno Debaenst from Uppsala University, who will give a talk titled “Repeating the Pattern? On the Relationship between Law and the Industrial Revolutions”.
“Repeating the Pattern? On the Relationship between Law and the Industrial Revolutions”

Abstract:

“In my lecture, I will discuss the complex relationship between Law and the Industrial Revolutions. I will demonstrate how law successfully and successively has been conquering the Industrial Revolutions by applying old legal rules on the new fields of human development. This legal historical perspective can help us to better understand the current developments regarding Artificial Intelligence, in the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution. Are we simply repeating the pattern, or is more going on? You are welcome to join the lecture in order to find out!”
