Our aim is to modulate cellular stress pathways to protect and regenerate insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells and improve insulin action in target tissues to treat diabetes mellitus. In parallel, we investigate the mechanism of the ER stress-regulating factor MANF. We combine transcriptomic, genomic, cellular and molecular approaches to uncover the mechanisms of diabetes pathogenesis.
