Intestinal health and therapeutic bacteria

A diverse microbial population -the microbiota- inhabits the human body and influences our health in many ways. Differences in microbiota composition are directly or indirectly linked to various human diseases. Our research focuses on gut microbiota and its impact on intestinal as well as systemic health and interactions with the host. The long-term aim is to identify new targets for medical therapies and to develop treatments based on bacteriotherapy.
