Juha received his MD degree from the University of Tampere in 2010 and defended his PhD thesis on novel regulators of JAK/STAT -signaling pathway from the laboratory of professor Olli Silvennoinen in 2012. In 2013 Juha joined laboratory of Dr. Michael J. Lenardo at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA) as a post-doctoral fellow. His post-doc training concentrated on immunological tolerance in autoimmune diabetes and on defining the molecular mechanisms of novel inherited human immunological diseases.
After returning to Finland in the end of 2016, Juha joined the laboratory of Dr. Päivi Saavalainen at University of Helsinki and also started his residency in pediatrics at HUS Helsinki University hospital. In 2019 he received the PI status from University of Helsinki. Currently, Juha is working as an Academy of Finland clinical researcher, combining both clinical medicine and basic laboratory research.
