Worldview Dialogue in Schools

The Worldview Dialogue in Schools development project has collaborated with the Religions for Peace Women of Faith network in Finland, the United Religions Initiative and the Fellows programme of the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID).

We have organised seminars, workshops and, in particular, events related to the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week at the University of Helsinki from 2014 as well as events in conjunction with the Parliament of the World’s Religions.

Professor Arto Kallioniemi and Doctoral Researcher Heidi Rautionmaa have produced four events and participated as speakers in the Parliament of the World’s Religions in 2015, 2018, 2021 (e-parliament) and 2023 (upcoming 14–18 August 2023).

In addition, events promoting worldview dialogue have been organised for years in collaboration with the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences on its Pasila campus. From 2021, the annual UN theme week seminar has been held together with the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences and the Fokus association for social sciences at the University of Jyväskylä. In 2021, the traditional UN World Interfaith Harmony Week event was organised in collaboration with the Helinä Rautavaara Ethnographic Museum.

Thematically, dialogue events have focused on development issues related to education and teaching from the perspectives of worldview dialogue and peace education. Participants have included parties interested in dialogue from various fields and sectors of society.

The development project is linked with research activities through, for example, international networking and field knowledge.
