The Hematoscope Lab (PI: Oscar Brück) is a translational research group affiliated with the Helsinki University Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center & Center of Diagnostics and the University of Helsinki.
We aim to solve how clinical experts can harness machines to better understand, diagnose and monitor hematological diseases. Our approach is to combine high-resolution automated imaging, big data analysis and modern machine learning methods (e.g., deep learning-based image analysis, decision trees, explainable AI).
Cancer heterogeneity needs to be solved with multidisciplinary expertise. We are a team of physicians, machine learning engineers, software engineers, bioanalysts and slide scanner engineers. We foster an environment where everyone feels appreciated and students receive the guidance they need.
