Law is about human behavior. Psychologist are experts at doing research on human behavior. The marriage of law and psychology is inevitable. Forensic psychology research group focuses on human behavior and its control, regulation, and facilitation in the context of law and legal actors. Specific interest is on expanding research into new areas within the legal system. Currently, we are focusing on behavioral law and economics. This includes a systematic study of how human cognition, emotion, and behavior shape and are shaped by the legal system.
The group has conducted longitudinal, correlational and experimental studies. The group is currently studying the decision-making processes, greed, personality, and risk-taking behavior in the context of legal proceedings.
