International Colloquium on Ancient Greek Linguistics at the University of Helsinki

University of Helsinki is hosting the Ninth International Colloquium on Ancient Greek Linguistics from the 30th of August till the 1st of September.

The primary goal of this series of colloquia is to explore all the various different aspects of Ancient Greek linguistics such as language variation and development, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and so forth. The Helsinki 2018 colloquium will be focusing on two themes: first, the language contact between Greek and other languages and second, linguistic research on original documents and manuscripts.

Nearly 100 participants from all over the world ranging from South to North America and from Europe to Japan and Australia are taking part in the colloquium. In the duration of three days almost 80 presentations can be heard from some the leading researchers of Ancient Greek linguistics. The two keynote speakers of this colloquium are Eleanor Dickey from the University of Reading, UK and Trevor Evans from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.
