Definition file code for running Zonation 5 in Apptainer containers released

Need to do Zonation analyses in High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, but previous Zonation 5 distributions were not applicable? The spatial prioritisation tool Zonation 5 is now available as an Apptainer definition file for Linux systems.

This distribution is meant for both HPC clusters and anyone wishing to run Zonation 5 inside containers. The definition file provides a basic setup for HPC cluster service providers to install Zonation 5 as part of their program options.

For most Zonation users we still recommend installing Zonation 5 locally on your computers using either Windows installer or Linux AppImage. Thanks to Zonation’s optimised data processing and algorithm efficiency, the program can run very large datasets and prioritisation problems on basic laptops. But for those heavy user – this release makes it easier to install Zonation 5 on HPC clusters where the Zonation 5 Appimage doesn’t run directly.
