Open position

We are looking for a PhD student or Post-doctoral fellow to study how changes in cellular shape and motility are regulated in vivo

Cells and tissues are not static structures, but during development they change their size and shape and migrate.

We are interested in how cells are coordinated and keep connected with each other in tissues, while undergoing changes in their shape or motility. In particular we want to understand how actin filament disassembly is spatiotemporally regulated in epithelial cells undergoing these dynamic processes.

We are now looking for enthusiastic new members in our research group to study how changes in cellular shape and motility are regulated in vivo. The project provides an opportunity to use wide array of methods, in particular state-of-the-art imaging techniques and image analysis, in combination with the powerful genetic toolkit of Drosophila. Previous experience in cell biology, confocal microscopy or imaging analysis is an advantage. Experience on Drosophila work is not necessary. As we work in international research environment, good oral and written communication skills in English are important; knowledge of the Finnish language is not necessary.
