The Institute has many laboratories and centres studying and developing methods in atmospheric spectroscopy, remote sensing, wave propagation and measurements of atmospheric components.
Station Fonovaya (Background) is located 60km from Tomsk [see picture below]. In the station, there is a gas flux measurement tower as well as continuous aerosol size distribution measurements. In the tower there are 2 measurement points at 10 and 30m. The aerosols are measured in range of 2nm-10μm. In addition, snow and aerosol chemical composition is measured in an offline regime.
In second half of 2018 INAR and V.E. Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics will start continuous measurements deploying Particle Size Magnifier (PSM) and Neutral clusters and Air Ions Spectrometer (NAIS) at station Fonovaya. In addition, measurements using CI-APi-TOF will be conducted on a campaign basis.
