Pig reproduction

The following routine examinations can be performed

• Breeding soundness evaluation of the female pig
• Determination of the cycle stage and optimal breeding time
• Pregnancy diagnosis
• Hormonal oestrus / ovulation induction

In addition, the following examinations can be performed in sows not coming to heat, sow not becoming pregnant, sows aborting and sows with clinical symptoms (e.g. vaginal discharge)

• Vaginoscopy
• Ultrasound of ovaries / uterus / mammary glands
• Samplings (Blood, bacteriolgy)

The following routine examinations can be performed

• Breeding soundness examination
• Semen collection & analysis
• Semen preservation
• Reproductive surgery (e.g. castration, teaser boar operation)

In addition, the following examinations can be performed in boars with low libido, ejaculation problems or low fertility (e.g. low pregnancy rate)

• Andrological examination of external sex organs
• Ultrasound of testes / accessory sex glands
• Samplings (Blood, Bacteriology)

The following routine examinations can be performed

• Colostrum collection & evaluation
• Evaluation of neonatal health
• Evaluation of maternal health & behavior 

In addition, the following examinations can be performed in sows with high piglet mortality:

• Diagnosis and management of dystocia
• Diagnosis and treatment of disorders in the puerperal period
• Resuscitation and intensive care of the newborn pig

The following examinations can be performed in herds (herd health visits) with subfertility (e.g. high piglet mortality, low piglet weight gain, high rate of sows not coming in heat, low pregnancy rate)

• Evaluation of herd health & breeding records
• Evaluation of environment, housing and husbandry
• Evaluation of nutrition

In addition, management of reproduction in pig farms can be performed:

• Evaluation of artificial insemination protocols
• Oestrus synchronisation & fixed- time inseminations
• Evaluation of parturition protocols
