New educational video: Migration in the Ancient Near East

Migration is not anything new, but it has been part of human history, right from the start. The ancient Near East was no exception, and numerous sources allow us to study how migration shaped societies and cultures in this region over millenia.

In a new video, two postdoctoral researchers from the University of Helsinki – Caroline Wallis and Tero Alstola – discuss migration as a factor in the development of the ancient Near East during the first millennium BCE. They explore the types of migration and the effects it had on both people and empires.
