MSc thesis grant at Tvärminne Zoological Station

A new MSc thesis grant will be awarded to one student a year conducting their thesis work at Tvärminne Zoological Station. The topic can be in any field of biology and the grants are open for students from all universities in Finland.

From this year (2023) onwards, the Foundation honouring the memory of prof. Johan Axel Palmén, the founder of Tvärminne Zoological Station (Säätiö J.A.Palménin Muisto — Stiftelsen J.A.Palméns Minne) will award one MSc thesis grant per year to a student conducting their thesis work at Tvärminne Zoological Station. The topic can be in any field of biology and the grants are open for students from all universities in Finland.

The MSc thesis (pro gradu) scholarship is 2 200 € as a personal grant and max. 400 € for research costs (not travel or lodging).

Applications should include a cover letter, the MSc thesis research plan (including the timetable and budget, max. 3 pages) and the applicant's CV (max. 2 pages).

The deadline for applications is 16.4.2023. Applications should be sent as one single pdf-file to joanna.norkko@helsinki.fi.

Tvärminne Zoological Station, founded in 1902, belongs to the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki, Finland. It serves as a centre for a large variety of high quality biological research, carries out environmental monitoring, and offers facilities for visiting scientists, field courses, symposia and seminars. The area is characterised by an exceptionally high number of different biotopes and species richness.
