In the woodcock study, participants stop at the 3*3 km squares at three different points. Wait 20 minutes for each one, or until a male woodcock has been spotted during his courtship flight.
The squares stretch from Hämeenlinna to Lahti and all the way to Evo. You can choose the square (or preferably squares) that is closest to you.
The squares can be found here:

Can the observation points be done one at a time? Yes you can, if the form disappears from your browser, here is the address:
You can send a new form
What time should the observations be made? After sunset, for about 2-3 hours.
Is there a time limit for the study? This depends on the progress of the spring and summer, and data can be collected throughout the summer. It may be that woodcocks have time to nest twice, or start twice if nesting fails.
What if I don't spot the woodcock the night I make the observations, but I know that there are some on the screen? You can renew the same square. If you can't book it again, you can use the link in the form above. You can also send an email
What if I'm not sure if I'm in the right squares? The data is processed based on coordinates, the squares exist so that the data would be guided as evenly as possible. Therefore, it is important that the coordinates are correct, the square can be different from the one that is occupied.
Can the same screen be made again? Yes, you can, additional material never hurts, on the contrary, it can provide interesting additional information.
What do the colors white and green on the map mean? Both squares are available, the color difference is caused by the color of the background map.
