A Research Council of Finland funded project (2023 - 2027)
This research probes the opening up of political space in young people’s everyday urban encounters by testing the limits and possibilities for the ontologically disruptive event of enchantment. In this endeavor, the project produces new knowledge and conceptualizations of the effects of the techno-scientific framing of life in the city for the formation of diverse young people’s political agency and subjectivities. In a rapidly urbanizing technoscientific world, it is of urgent importance to outline the post-human subject that is embodied and spatially embedded, while constituted in and by multiplicity. Here, it is paramount to recognize young people as capable societal and political agents, without also emphasizing ideations of individual ‘agency’ and ‘voice’ that work toward strengthening the already-dangerous ethos of individuality in Western societies.
