Sini Mononen

Sini is an arts researcher and an independent writer. In 2018, Sini completed her doctoral degree at the University of Turku with a dissertation discussing experiences of stalking in the music and soundscapes of films depicting stalking. Her research interests include the relationship between art and society, interdisciplinarity in the arts, and how art finds new forms and practices in different contexts. Currently, Sini works as an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki, exploring music and sound as tools of civic activities in today’s climate movement. In addition to research, Sini teaches, is writing a non-fiction book on music and sound in expanded cinema, and contributes as an art critic to various publications. Sini is one of the founding members of the Suoni association dedicated to the study of music in social and activist contexts and serves as the researcher in charge of the Sounds for Change research project. 

Seela Kallio

Seela is the research assistant of the Sounds for Change project. She is a master’s student in the programme in society and change at the University of Helsinki, majoring in Social and Cultural Anthropology. Seela completed her bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology at Stockholm University. Her bachelor’s thesis was entitled A Lullaby for Activists: Songwriting and Performing within the Extinction Rebellion Movement in Helsinki. It sparked her interest in the role of art in direct action movements, particularly from the perspective of community building. In this project, Seela works with data processing, coordination and communication tasks.

Terhi Ekebom

Terhi Ekebom is an illustrator and comic artist who also creates murals and public art. Terhi designed the visual identity of the Sounds for Change project.
