Foreign language teaching is crucial in Finnish schools and society, but recent years have seen a decline in language resources due to perceptions of language studies as burdensome and slow. Despite this, children's remarkable ability to learn new things remains. Chinese, with its unique features and rich cultural heritage, presents challenges for children but also offers significant benefits for their linguistic and cognitive development. The Fun Chinese project aims to enhance language teaching methods, making learning more effective and enjoyable for children.
This research is part of the work conducted in the Cognitive Brain Research Unit. The unit is specialized in investigating learning across the life span in many different kinds of contexts, for instance by using games. As part of the Cognitive Brain Research Unit, the Brain, Music, and Learning team is investigating various forms of music learning and music-enriched learning.
