Robert J Brummer is professor in Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition, and senior consultant at the University Hospital. He was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health and currently Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Örebro University directing the university-overarching interdisciplinary Food and Health research profile (http://www.oru.se/english/our-profile/food-and-health). He leads the Nutrition-Gut-Brain Interactions Research Centre (http://www.oru.se/ngbi) as well as the eight-year funded Rosetta@oru project dedicated to the Responsive Nutrition theme within Food and Health. He is also director of the governmentally funded national research centre “Plant-based Proteins for Health and Wellbeing – PAN Sweden” (http://www.oru.se/pansweden). Furthermore, he is engaged in national boards and strategies regarding food and nutrition research and innovation and acts as reviewer for several international research councils, member of the Board of Directors of ILSI Europe and represents Sweden as vice-chair of the European Universities Association Expert Group on Innovation. His main field of interest in research is nutrition/microbe-gut-brain interactions with special reference to human application and still performs all research endoscopic investigations himself.
Ignacio Rangel is an associate professor at the School of Medical Sciences at Örebro University (ORU). He is a microbiologist with special interest in microbial ecology of human and natural environments. His research focuses on the microbiota of the gastrointestinal tract, how it is shaped and how it interacts with physiological, nutritional, metabolic, immunological, and even neurological processes of the host. His research and some administrative and organizational activities are placed within the Nutrition-Gut-Brain Interactions Research Centre and the Responsive Nutrition project Rosetta@oru, which are part of the Food and Health research profile at ORU. Among his educational assignments he is the Programme coordinator of the doctoral education at the School of Medical Sciences and is the coordinator of the profile Nutrition-Gut-Brain Interaction of the International Master Programme in Experimental Medicine. He is member of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, ORU, co-leader of the research work-package of the Consortium of European Universities NEOLAiA, and reviewer of national European science foundations.
