Kaarel Adamberg is a leader of the microbiome research group at the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology at TalTech. He is specialized in studies of food and gut microbiome to find links between the nutrition, gut bacteria and health characteristics, analyse metabolism of gut bacteria and to develop technologies for microbiome-supporting foods. In the FIBRE-MATCH project, Dr. Adamberg’s microbiome research group focuses on in vitro experiments to elucidate the gas formation pathways by gut microbiomes with different capacity to metabolise common dietary fibres found in staple foods. Together with scientists from Helsinki University, a prototype food will be developed and tested in clinical trials Helsinki and Örebro Universities. Read more on the Food Division website.
