Cultural, Worldview and Language Awareness in Basic Education

The Cultural, Worldview and Language Awareness in Basic Education project KUPERA provides research-based perspectives on cultural, worldview and language awareness in education and the development of peace education. The project is implemented collaboratively by the University of Helsinki’s Centre for Educational Assessment (CEA) and other research groups of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. The sub-projects are funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education.

Assessment and research

The KUPERA project investigates language, cultural and worldview awareness and peace education.

Training

Our sub-projects provide online and contact training for basic education teachers and other employees in the teaching and education sector interested in the topic.

Materials and webportal

The KUPERA project produces material to support cultural, worldview and language awareness as well as peace education. Among other things, our sub-projects have produced the Tähtijengi learning material, in which the needs of learners with Finnish as a second language have been specifically taken into consideration, as well as an online portal for enhancing dialogue skills.
