Mobile Augmented Reality is gaining popularity due to the wide adoption of mobile and wearable devices, and is one of the future applications targeted by 5G. The 5GEAR project addresses fundamental challenges towards 5G edge architecture, reliable protocols for Mobile AR, and security. The proposed infrastructure relies on 5G for transmission, on top of which we will deploy an edge computing architecture to process and contextualize the Mobile Augmented Reality pipeline, and transport layer protocols to fully exploit the capabilities of 5G. These protocols will constantly interact with the application to provide seamless service.
