Professors and teachers
Several new professors assume their position at the University of Helsinki every year, exploring topical matters affecting the development of the world. Their brief inaugural lectures can be attended by all every six months. The titles of docent and professor of practice are both scholarly honours. The academic title of docent is awarded in recognition of scientific and teaching merits, while the title of professor of practice is not based on academic achievements, but particularly significant experience and merits gained in professional life. All professors of practice are holders of a doctoral degree.
