200 strawberry genomes sequenced

Strawberry Research Group sequenced genomes of 200 woodland strawberry accessions originating from all across Europe. These data and available plant resources enable various population genomic screens including for example scanning of selective sweeps and genome wide association studies.

Strawberry Research Group started the sequencing of woodland strawberry genomes in collaboration with Dr. David Posé, University of Malaga in 2015. Sequencing was carried out using Illumina NextSeq500 system in Petri Auvinen's lab at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki. Average sequencing depth is >15X.
