Europaeum’s mission is to create a morally aware cadre of young people who have developed professional skills and the moral qualities to lead, learned how to work collaboratively and who are committed to shaping the future of Europe for the better.
In recent years, the Europaeum has structured its activities around three themes in particular: European history and culture, European policy-making and European liberal democracy & citizen engagement.
The Centre for European Studies functions as the local Europaeum contact point at the University of Helsinki.
The Scholars Programme is a two-year policy and leadership course for the most talented, energetic and committed doctoral candidates from within the Europaeum network – the people who will make a difference to Europe. It is multi-disciplinary, multi-university, and multi-locational and focuses on contemporary European policy. Entry is via open competition for 30+ places every other year. It is the flagship programme of the Europaeum. The first cohort of Europaeum Scholars started in 2018. Read more about Europaeum Scholars and their research projects.
Europaeum Scholars from the University of Helsinki
The Europaeum organises workshops, seminars, conferences and debates in cooperation with the members of the network. These are all open to any student (usually master’s or doctoral level) currently enrolled at one of the member universities whose main focus of study lies in the Humanities or Social Sciences, via a rigorous application and selection process.

The Europaeum supports a small number of exchanges every year, with the generous help and cooperation of selected member universities and corporate donors. Currently, these opportunities exist for students from Geneva, Helsinki, Oxford and Prague. More information
