A dive into the garden of a summer cottage – Photography exhibition

The focus of Sanna Reponen’s photography is on the intricate details of plants. The exhibition is on display in the Gallery Corridor of the Kaisaniemi Greenhouses until January 12, 2025.

Sanna Reponen’s exhibition brings the atmosphere of summer mornings into the heart of winter.

“I took the photos for this exhibition in the garden of our summer cottage, which was established in the 1940s. At times, the garden has been left completely untouched for long periods. Today it’s a pleasant mix of wild and somewhat tended areas. The light is usually at its best in the morning and the conditions for photographing plants are ideal if there’s been rain or heavy dew overnight. Most of the photos were taken while the rest of the family was still asleep.”

Reponen’s photos often capture only the parts that fascinate her the most, for one reason or another. In addition to plants, the photos frequently feature insects that move from plant to plant as summer progresses.

The exhibition is on display in the Gallery Corridor of the Kaisaniemi Greenhouses from November 5, 2024, to January 12, 2025.
