This year, a significant change is coming to Kumpula Botanic Garden as the historic manor building will close to the public. The closure is due to the transfer of the geological collections to the Natural History Museum where they will become part of the renewed History of Life exhibition.
For years Kumpula Manor has housed collections documenting Earth's mineral and biological history. Now these unique collections will find a new home at the Natural History Museum, where they will be featured in a larger exhibition.
The partial renewal of the History of Life exhibition will begin in 2026 with the goal of making the geological collections accessible to the public again in 2027.
Although Kumpula Manor will close, the botanic garden will open as usual in May. Ticket prices will be reduced and additional guided tours will be available throughout the summer.
