When I Feel Small is the debut solo exhibition of Brazilian artist Sarah Guedes, presenting a collection of colored-pencil illustrations rooted in a simple question: what do we do when we feel small?
Through the silent presence of trees, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys looking through the fragility of a seed to the strength of a fully grown tree, considering smallness as a place of origin and potential.
The illustrations are part of an ongoing children’s book project by the artist and are presented here alongside new drawings of tree species associated with hope across different cultures. Together, they are a gentle call to pause and listen to the wisdom held within the natural world.
When I Feel Small is on view at the Gallery Corridor of the Kaisaniemi Greenhouses from 14 April to 14 June 2026.
Research groups, artists, photographers, authors, nature hobbyists and all other nature enthusiasts are invited to propose an exhibition for the exhibition spaces of the Natural History Museum and the Kaisaniemi and Kumpula Botanic Gardens.
