Renewal of Arkadiankatu Bridge will cause changes to traffic arrangements near the Natural History Museum

The renovation is expected to be completed in late 2026.

The renovation will start with the construction of temporary traffic arrangements from Wednesday 7 January onwards. The renovation is expected to be completed in late 2026.

A temporary pedestrian bridge over the Baana

A temporary bridge for pedestrians will be built on the east side of Arkadiankatu over the Baana. The aim is to maintain the pedestrian route on the east side of the bridge until the temporary bridge is operational. Cyclists will also be able to use the bridge.

The Baana route underneath the bridge is expected to remain open for most of the renovation's duration, with some minor exceptions.

Changes to car routes

There will be changes to the motor vehicle routes by the bridge and around it in January. If possible, should be favoured during the bridge renovation.

Connections to the bus terminals in Kamppi will remain available, but there will be a slight diversion of routes.

Tram routes 1 and 1T to be diverted

Trams 1 and 1T will run via Simonkatu and Kamppi. Lasipalatsi and the Natural History Museum will not be served.

The diversion is due to the renovation of the Arkadiankatu bridge and will remain in place until late 2026. The renovation will not affect HSL's bus services.
