According to illustrator-author Kaisa Parén, every plant has its own character and unique way of living and appearing in the world. Her atmospheric illustrations take visitors on a fairytale-like journey through nature, awakening a sense of wonder. On the species spreads, viewers are invited to identify different plant species themselves. Parén hopes the exhibition inspires joy, appreciation, and a moment of pause in front of each plant.
Kaisa Parén is a painter and illustrator-author from Mäntyharju, whose art is deeply inspired by her local natural surroundings.
“Tales from the Plants” – the illustration exhibition – will be on display in the Gallery Corridor of the Kaisaniemi Greenhouses from August 5 to September 28, 2025.
Research groups, artists, photographers, authors, nature hobbyists and all other nature enthusiasts are invited to propose an exhibition for the exhibition spaces of the Natural History Museum and the Kaisaniemi and Kumpula Botanic Gardens.
