The paintings in Jaana Kaipiainen’s FLORAhomage are based on sensory impressions evoked in the artist by the plants, light, and scents of the Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden. The works are created intuitively, often painted over existing layers. The paintings also contain subtle hints for the viewer – an invitation to pause and engage with their own sensory perceptions.
Jaana Kaipiainen is a self-taught visual artist whose practice is grounded in sensitivity to the senses and experiential engagement.
FLORAhomage is on view at the Gallery Corridor of the Kaisaniemi Greenhouses from 3 February to 5 April 2026.
Research groups, artists, photographers, authors, nature hobbyists and all other nature enthusiasts are invited to propose an exhibition for the exhibition spaces of the Natural History Museum and the Kaisaniemi and Kumpula Botanic Gardens.
