Suvi Heinonen appointed as Director of the Institute of Seismology

The new director of the Institute of Seismology starts in their position on 5 February 2024.

Dean of the Faculty of Science has appointed PhD, geophysicist Suvi Heinonen as the director of the Institute of Seismology for a five-year term starting from 5.2.2024.

The duties of the directors include, for example, direction and supervision of research, education and official duties, development of the institute and the realization of the university's strategy at the institute. The director is responsible for the institute's finances, profitability and efficiency. The dean appoints the director of the Institute of Seismology on the proposal of the institute's board.

Suvi Heinonen is currently employed as a team manager working with seismic methods at the Geological Survey of Finland.
