Y Science 2022 highlighted novel ideas in cell research and soil modeling

Single cell sequencing technology and modeling the behavior of our soil were the two winning ideas in Y Science 2022 pitching competitions.

This year’s Y Science, the official side event of Slush on life science innovation, once again attracted an enthusiastic crowd of researchers, early-stage companies and aspiring projects in health, food systems and environment to Helsinki, Finland.

Y Science brings together the curious scientific community and the business world to inspire concrete actions and contributions to society in the field of life sciences. One key element of the event are its pitching competitions, where new research commercialization ideas are evaluated by a prestigious panel of judges.

This year, the best pitcher and winner of €5,000 in the Health category was Päivi Saavalainen from SCellex, a company developing spatial single cell sequencing technology. The winner of the Food Systems pitching competition and the €5,000 prize was Binkiapp, a project simulating the future of our soil, presented by CTO and co-founder Gaëlle Thomas.
