New Research Fellow at the Neuroscience Center: Welcoming Patrik Wikman

The Neuroscience Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Patrik Wikman as a new Research Fellow under the INTELLIGENCE3 initiative. With a strong background in psychology and computational neuroscience, Dr. Wikman brings fresh perspectives that will enrich NC's research landscape in the coming years.

This spring, the Neuroscience Center (NC) together with Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (HCAS), and the Department of Computer Science launched a call for candidates for three Research Fellowship as a part of the collaborative framework Interdisciplinary Approaches to Intelligence (INTELLIGENCE3) funded by the University of Helsinki.  The INTELLIGENCE3 project strengthens and forms new interdisciplinary collaborations in the neuroscience field across the participating units and the three fellows with a potential for transformative new research.

We are happy to welcome Dr. Patrik Wikman as a new Research Fellow for a three-year (2025-2028) Fellowship at the NC. Dr. Wikman earned his PhD in Psychology, at the University of Helsinki after which he did a postdoctoral period at Georgetown University in the United States. Since 2023, he has led his own research group under the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Medicine.

Patrik investigates auditory attention perception in complex sounds environments combining human neuroimaging and computational approaches. His expertise complements the existing strengths at the NC bringing new synergies between the research groups.
