Juha Huiskonen reappointed as Director of Institute of Biotechnology

The Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Helsinki plays a pivotal role in advancing biosciences. We are pleased to announce that Juha Huiskonen has been reappointed as the Director for the next five-year term.

"It’s an honour to continue serving our community. I’m proud of the working culture we’ve built—one where people actively contribute, collaborate openly, speak up, and pursue excellence in research every day", says Juha Huiskonen.

Huiskonen has served as the Director of Institute of Biotechnology since 2020 and has played a key role in developing the unit, including producing and implementing the vision for future scientific development as well as the recruitment of a new generation of outstanding scientists.

The Institute of Biotechnology is one of the operational units within HiLIFE – Helsinki Institute of Life Science, which brings together all life sciences at the University of Helsinki. Under Huiskonen’s leadership, the Institute has cultivated new collaborations both within the University of Helsinki and internationally and has actively participated in the development and implementation of HiLIFE’s strategic plans.

"Working with Juha has been both productive and inspiring. His commitment to excellence and collaboration strengthens not only the Institute of Biotechnology but the entire HiLIFE community", says HiLIFE’s director Jari Koistinaho
