Open communication has been a central cornerstone of research since the early days. In our increasingly data-intensive era, research practice and dissemination are facing new challenges as well as opportunities. What is the overall significance of the open science movement and what are, if any, the historical roots and varieties of this movement? This two-day conference brings together contemporary open science advocates and scholars to discuss particular themes relevant to openness in contemporary research practice, including reproducibility, transparency, reusability, politics of science, and other topics as well as their historical roots, in order to gain a broader perspective on these issues. Participation is free and open for students, researchers and the general public.
Recordings of the event can be found here: Day 1, Day 2.
Video and audio recodings of individual talks as well as interviews with the speakers can be found here.
Individual talks will be made freely available as videos and podcasts soon!
The PHOS16 conference participants are also welcome to join an informal get-together on Friday night after the conference (Dec 2), arranged for the open knowledge community by Open Knowledge Finland. Dinner is included in the (subsidized) participation fee of 20e. The programme and ticket reservations are available here.
