Theology and religious studies move upwards in an international university ranking

Theology and religious studies at the University of Helsinki climbed to 36th position in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

evaluate universities in individual subject areas, based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper and the h-index.

Dean of the Faculty of Theology is very pleased with the placement.

“Last year we narrowly made it to the top 50, ranking 49th on the list, and now we achieved a meteoric rise to the 36th place. The QS ranking is also known as a reputation survey, with particular weight placed to questionnaires targeted at researchers and employers. In addition, the ranking focuses on citation numbers and employer reputation. There’s no downside to being a reputable, high-quality and international faculty of theology and religious studies.”

According to Räsänen, positions opening in the Faculty also elicit a great deal of interest on the international stage. This too is evidence of the Faculty’s good reputation and attractiveness as a work and academic community.
