Faculty Management

The Faculty is led by a dean who is selected for a term of four years. The vice-deans support the dean in the development of the Faculty, the implementation of the strategic plan of the University of Helsinki and the promotion of cooperation in the field of activity determined by the dean.

The Faculty Council is the Faculty’s multi-member administrative body, chaired by the dean. Under the leadership of the dean, the Faculty Council develops the overall operations of the Faculty in line with the University’s operational and financial targets, the University’s strategic plan and the Faculty’s target programme.

Dean Petri Luomanen is Professor of New Testament and Early Christian Culture and Literature.

As head of the Faculty, the Dean oversees the Faculty’s development, the effectiveness and efficiency of Faculty operations, and the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the University of Helsinki at the Faculty.
