Specialists in psychology are increasingly needed in society and business. The University of Helsinki will launch a new Bachelor's Programme in Applied Psychology to meet this need. The programme will be offered as of autumn 2024. Students admitted to the Bachelor's Programme in Applied Psychology will also receive the right to study in the Master’s Programme in Organisational Psychology to be launched in the autumn of 2026.
The Bachelor's Programme in Applied Psychology and the Master’s Programme in Organisational Psychology constitute a whole that will explore human information processing, the functioning and development of various groups and organisations, and factors contributing to wellbeing. The focus will particularly be on interaction skills, teamwork skills, methodological competence, the application and production of scientific research knowledge as well as on close collaboration with professionals in the field. Those completing both programmes will be specialists in psychology, but not healthcare professionals. The programmes prepare students for positions for which the qualification of a psychologist practising as a healthcare professional is not required.
The bachelor's programme is implemented by the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki.
