What motivated you to choose the Master's Programme in Neuroscience at the University of Helsinki, and how did it meet or exceed your expectations?
Completing my BSc thesis on the role of dural lymphatics in Alzheimer’s disease sparked a strong interest in understanding brain function in both health and disease. This drive led me to pursue an MSc in Neuroscience, and in 2017, I was thrilled to be accepted into the international Neuroscience program at the University of Helsinki. The program equipped me with a strong scientific foundation that opened the door to my first role in the pharmaceutical industry.
Looking back, is there a particular course, project, or research opportunity that stands out as having been especially influential in your journey?
Each research project I engaged in during my studies has played a critical role in my career development. By keeping an open mind, actively networking, and sharing my interests, I was able to make the most of valuable opportunities. Pharma Industry Finland’s Future Stars Networking program and the career-building courses within my master’s program also facilitated insightful conversations with industry experts, leading to new professional paths.
Can you tell us about your current role and how your career has evolved since completing the programme?
I currently work as a Medical Science Liaison at Eisai Ab in a field-based role within the medical affairs department, focused on neurology. My main responsibilities include building relationships with key opinion leaders, supporting investigator-initiated studies, participating in medical congresses, educating internal and external stakeholders, and providing strategic input on cross-functional plans. With over three years of experience across various roles in the pharmaceutical industry—including positions as a Medical Affairs Trainee, Freelance Medical Writer, Clinical Development Coordinator at Orion, Customer Partner at Roche, and Consultant Medical Science Liaison at Horus Pharma—I’m now excited to be in my “dream role” as a Medical Science Liaison in neurology at Eisai.
