Why apply

Microbes play a significant role as processors of life and the environment. In the Master's Programme in Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnology (MMB), you will:

  • learn about microbes, biotechnological applications and research techniques used to study viruses, bacteria and other microbes.
  • gain the skills to develop innovations in the food or medical industry or other biotechnological applications.
  • be able to tailor your degree based on your interest towards many subject areas, such as the environment, food, viruses, fungi, health and microbial diseases, microbial biotechnology or microbial bioinformatics.
  • have the possibility to participate in international student exchanges and complete parts of the degree at universities abroad.
  • gain the capability to plan and lead activities in microbiology and biotechnology

Graduates can continue with PhD studies or proceed directly into working life, e.g. research and development, surveillance/monitoring in healthcare, food and environment, administration and consultancy, business and management or teaching and education.
