The Social Sciences Career Fair 2025 was a great success

The student organization of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Kannunvalajat, organized the bi-annual Social Sciences Career Fair at the City Centre Campus in November.

On Thursday, November 6, the student organization of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Kannunvalajat, organized the bi-annual Social Sciences Career Fair at the City Centre Campus. This year’s theme was internationality.

European and Nordic Studies student Karoliina Leppänen, the main organizer of the fair, wrapped up her thoughts: “During these difficult times when unemployment rates continue to increase in Finland, it is essential that students widen their perspectives outward. Internationality gives students more opportunities as the concept has multiple dimensions. It can mean moving abroad for work or exchange, or working domestically on global issues, collaborating in international teams, or applying comparative perspectives to local challenges.”

The fair included talks from MEP Maria Ohisalo and Kati Laitinen, followed by a panel discussion featuring representatives from CMI, UNA Finland, YMCA and the European Parliament. Afterwards, employers from various sectors had the chance to present their career opportunities for students. Students also had the chance to speak with University of Helsinki alumni, ask questions and learn about their career paths.

A big thank you to Kannunvalajat and all participants for an informative and successful career fair!
