European and Nordic Studies students made the annual excursion to Riga this year. We visited many interesting institutions, including the Latvian Parliament, Nato Strategic Communications Centre, Latvian Institute of International Affairs, and the University of Latvia. We are grateful to our kind hosts for the experience and interesting presentations.
We also visited the Museum of Occupation of Latvia and got to know what happened in the country during the Soviet and German National Socialist regimes from 1940 to 1991. Our student Jalmari Sarla gave us a Soviet urban architecture walking tour in the Purvciems suburb, where we learned local history and heard about the residents’ experiences.
We had a memorable time together and enjoyed the experience. Now we are looking forward to the next year's excursion to Brussels!
