The symposium Waterscapes and Landscapes. Environments of Ritual, Transition and Travel aims to bring together an interdisciplinary community of scholars around the themes of archaeological, historical and cultural heritage landscapes. The selection of concepts examined include, but is not exclusively limited to, ritual landscapes and the experience of lived religion within contexts defined by various environments, as well as moments of transition within and travel through different social, economic and cultural spaces. How was space defined, used and experienced, and how did it separate or unite people and communities?
This event explores both qualitative and quantitative approaches to these and other questions. It seeks to foster methodological and theoretical exchanges beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries, and to encourage the development of scientific networks around this shared and bourgeoning field of research.
