21-23 October 2026.

The language of the conference is English.

Conference format

The Aleksanteri Conference is a live conference. The sessions are not streamed online, with the exceptions of the opening and closing ceremony and the Keynote Plenaries. Participants are expected to participate in person, with the following terms:

  • Accepted individual paper proposals: those presenting in panels composed of individual papers are expected to participate in person.
  • Accepted panel proposals: one of the speakers on a panel may participate remotely, while others will give their presentations in person at the conference. Chairs should be present at the conference venue.
  • Accepted roundtable proposals: one of the speakers of the roundtable may participate remotely, while the others will give their presentations in person at the conference. Moderators should be present at the conference.
Conference venues

The conference will be held at the University of Helsinki  in the Metsätalo building, Main Building, and Think Corner. See the guide for visitors below to access Wifi and find tips for transport, services, and more.

Metsätalo

Most of the conference sessions take place at Metsätalo (Unioninkatu 40). 

Main building

University of Helsinki Main Building (Fabianinkatu 33) hosts some of the conference activities.

Think Corner

Think Corner (Yliopistonkatu 4) is the venue for one of the keynote plenaries and some sessions. There's also a cafe and a small book shop in the building.

Travel and Accommodation

Accommodation
Participants are requested to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation, as well as cover their own costs related to participation. There are various options available in Helsinki. See our hotel recommendations on our .

Transport
The main building of the University of Helsinki (venue) is easily accessible by train, metro, bus and tram. The Main railway station and the Helsinki University metro stop are a short walk away. Read more information regarding transportation connections and tickets on HSL's website.
