Legal Conference On Navigating the New Corporate Landscape

Welcome to the Legal Conference On Navigating the New Corporate Landscape

The corporate landscape is undergoing a rapid transformation. While the corporate sustainability agenda continues to shape regulation and policy, it also faces significant backlashes. At the same time, swift geopolitical shifts are undermining the rules-based international order. Trade barriers and market fragmentation expose critical dependencies, likely imposing new and unpredictable responsibilities on a wide range of companies.

These developments present practical challenges for managing companies and their risks and liabilities while also raising fundamental questions about the role of the corporate enterprise in society. In these circumstances it is timely to reassess the political and theoretical underpinnings of corporate regulation.

The conference brings together scholars, policymakers and corporate representatives to share insights on the current corporate environment and to discuss the impact of the politicization of corporations on company law and corporate governance.

Keynote presentations will be provided by Professor Mariana Pargendler (Harvard Law School) and Professor Curtis J. Milhaupt (Stanford Law School).

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Law of the University of Helsinki and the Hanken School of Economics in cooperation with the Nordic Corporate Governance Network.
