The corporate landscape is evolving rapidly. The corporate sustainability agenda continues to drive regulation and policy, but it is also facing significant backlashes. At the same time, rapid geopolitical shifts are eroding the rules-based international order. Emerging trade barriers and market fragmentation reveal critical dependencies and introduce new and unpredictable responsibilities for a broad range of companies. These developments pose practical challenges for managing companies and their risks and liabilities while also raising fundamental questions about the role of the corporate enterprise in society.
The conference brings together scholars, policymakers and corporate representatives to share perspectives on the current corporate environment and to discuss the impact of the politicization of corporations on company law and corporate governance.
The conference is organized by the Faculty of Law of the University of Helsinki and the Hanken School of Economics in cooperation with the Nordic Corporate Governance Network.
Keynote presentations will be provided by Prof. Mariana Pargendler (Harvard) and Prof. Curtis Milhaupt (Stanford).
